2012: The Reincarnation of Our Hiking Shoes/Bass Lake, Double Point, and Alamere Falls - 8.4

With 2012 comes the reincarnation of "Our Hiking Shoes"!

We started off this year with unseasonably warm weather, and when I say unseasonably warm, I mean it's nicer here now than it is during the summer months (not saying much since I live in San Francisco, but you get the idea). 65-70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and no wind to speak of. As a result, Scott and I decided our first Saturday of the year would be spent hiking.

We're out of hiking shape so we planned to start small: three-ish miles at a small park in Bolinas. Since Scott researched so well, we weren't surprised at all to find that the park we intended to hike at is only open from March-July (can you sense the sarcastic tone here?). We were ready to throw in the towel, but a quick glance at our handy book told us that there was another hike a few miles up the road. LET'S DO IT!

It was 8.4 miles round trip, and I have to say I was really nervous I was going to die (or at least cry at some point), but we made it in three hours flat! I would absolutely say this is one of my favorite hikes we've ever done (the weather certainly didn't hurt).

It was full of coastal views (mostly of the Point Reyes National Seashore), views of San Francisco, and most importantly...WATERFALLS (that empty into the ocean...NBD).

Below are just a few of the 10,000 pictures Scott took on the hike (slight exaggeration):
